His father, William Morgan Sheppard, portrayed an older version of the character in the opening episode. Sheppard was also the narrator for Doctor Who: Rewind and was BBCA's usual voiceover artist for advertisements and continuity announcements for Doctor Who during their original run of series 6. As such, he was the narrator for Doctor Who Insider, a BBCA-made equivalent to cut-down versions of Doctor Who Confidential.
