The Bane were an alien species who attempted to conquer Earth in secret.

Appearance

The Mother Bane appeared as little more than a giant cephalapod-like eye surrounded by tentacles.

Smaller Bane were the size of a very large, green, lozenged-shaped, and, like the Mother Bane, have one eye that resembles that of a cephalapod. There were pads on the undersides of their six tentacles which allow them to walk across ceilings and floors, and a turtle-like shell on the back. Sarah Jane Smith happened to have a liquid spray which could harm them. The Bane had a physical aversion to cell phone transmissions and even more so to an extraterrestrial friend's superluminal communications technology.

Powers and abilities

The Mother's children placed their Mother's secreted enyzmes in Bubble Shock! and so could control those who drank it. The junior Bane could transform into human form using image translators, however by doing so they left behind a sticky black slime.

History

Circa 2009, the Bane attempted to invade Earth using an addictive drink known as Bubble Shock!, which contained the secretions of their mother. Led by a Bane calling herself Mrs Wormwood, and her associates, they attempted to turn Earth into Bane World. One of the Bane was called Davey.

Presumably, due to the controlling of the Humans by the Bane inside them, in turn controlled by the Mother Bane, the Bane were a group mind.

It may be that the Bane had rason to invade Earth because the original Bane World (which would have been the Bane's homeworld) had previously been destroyed.
