Video policy

Your recently-uploaded video, Video:WHOVIANNET - Series 6 Part 2 Teaser Trailer, is in violation of our video policy because it does not come from the official BBC YouTube channel, or that of an official national broadcaster, like BBCA. As a result, it has been summarily deleted. We are very serious about our video policy. The reason we're so serious about it is because it's the only thing preventing people from uploading whole episodes of DW-related programs, which would be a clear and indefensible copyright violation. I hate to sound harsh, but this is your one and only warning on the matter. Now that you have been acquainted with this rule, further violations of the policy will result in an immediate ban.

Yes, it is harsh, but with good reason. If we didn't have a video policy, and just allowed anyone to post anything, we'd have the BBC down on us, just like they occasionally come down on certain YouTube video providers. On the other hand, it's not "out of left field" harsh. The rule is plainly posted at category:videos, category:videos compliant with our video policy, template:goodvideo and, of course, tardis:video policy. Giving you a single warning beyond those warnings is more on the nice side than not. Point is that I'm not quick to inform a user that they're really close to being banned. But I do view this one rule as intensely important to the continued survival of the wiki.
