The Howling → Eighth Doctor's new costume
I was really excited when I heard that Paul McGann was getting a new out fit for his Doctor last year at the Armaggedon Con in New Zealand but there seems to be not a single mention about it on this web site. Does anyone have new information? -173.66.40.203
- I don't have a link to the article but it turns out it was just a personal thing of Paul McGann's as how he saw the 8th Doctor later in his incarnation and wasn't anything official. If you are still wondering how it turned out there are pictures here: http://www.bigshinyrobot.com/reviews/archives/24998 but the article is from before the context of what was going on was revealed. - Is there a source for that McGann explanation? I'm terribly curious. Rob T Firefly 16:34, September 8, 2011 (UTC)
- Found it: http://podcast.theomegapodcast.org/2010/12/18/the-omega-podcast-episode-1-35-the-next-doctor.aspx I personally haven't listened to it but apparently the interview shows the BBC had nothing to do with the new costume, though if I recall from elsewhere the BBC did give it its blessings but that's the extent of their involvement. - Cheers. The Light6. According to the Weta spokesman interviewed in that podcast (about 10:30 into the file, for those interested in giving it a listen) it was indeed something fannish Weta took it upon themselves to do for Paul McGann when he visited the workshop. I was hoping it was an official Big Finish thing; it'd have been cool for BF to come up with their own "look" for the Doctor much as the Virgin New Adventures did, and finally give Paul McGann the opportunity to snap some new photos. It's long bothered me that we only have the half-dozen or so photographs of Eight from the TV Movie for all these years' worth of book and audio covers, the poor photoshoppers are overworked trying to hide the fact that we've seen each source photo countless times before.
