Edward Grainger was a human who was visited by the Doctor at various times throughout his life.

Biography

During childbirth, Edward's mother and family were under attack by a Demon. The Demon wanted to kill Edward so that it could unravel the Doctor's timeline. The First Doctor managed to banish the Demon before it caused any harm to Edward. (ST: Prologue)

When Edward was 8, the Third Doctor came to visit his house to investigate voices that Edward was hearing in his gramophone. The Doctor found that an alien had been trapped in the player while it was being made and was trying to escape by screaming for help. The Doctor freed the alien and allowed it to go home. When the Doctor left, he told Edward that he would lead a very eventful life. (ST: Echoes)

During the First World War, the Fourth Doctor saved Edward's life when a bomb was about to land where he was standing. (ST: Direct Action)

During the Second World War Edward was looking for the love of his life, Mai Ling, in Japanese-controlled China. Edward was captured by the Japanese and put in prison. The Seventh Doctor helped Edward escape from the prison. After his escape Edward recieved a letter from the British Government in response to a recommendation from the Doctor for him to become a British Operative. (ST: Log 384)

Edward assisted the Fifth Doctor in capturing an alien that tried to alter Earth history. (ST: The Church of Football)

The Sixth Doctor assisted Edward after the birth of Edward's son, John. (ST: Incongruous Details)

On Edward's fiftieth birthday in 1956, the Eighth Doctor, Samson and Gemma arrived at Edward's house to get rid of a ghost that had been haunting the family. (ST: Dear John)

Edward and his granddaughter Linda helped the First Doctor and Susan stop some Slarvian eggs from gestating near the English Channel. (ST: Childhood Living)

At the age of 100 in a nursing home, the Eighth Doctor came to visit Edward and took him on one last adventure in the TARDIS to the village where he was born in 1906. Edward slept in the TARDIS during flight and was called in his dreams to the Eye of Harmony. A voice told him to open the Eye and in doing so Edward released the Master. After a long search with the Doctor to find the Master, Edward sat down in the TARDIS to rest and died in his sleep. (ST: Forgotten)
