Doctor Who Classic Comics was a magazine published by Marvel Comics as a sister publication to the Doctor Who Magazine.
As editor of Doctor Who Magazine, John Freeman successfully negotiated purchase of all publishing rights from London and North Surrey Newspapers (now owned by Trinity Mirror) to all the Doctor Who comic strips published in ''TV Comic'', ''Countdown'' and ''TV Action'', and in 1992 Marvel UK launched ''Doctor Who Classic Comics'' - collections of strips from those titles and, later, strips from ''Doctor Who Weekly'' and ''Doctor Who Monthly''.
The publishing rights are now held by Panini who bought the assets of Marvel UK in the 1990s and which still publishes Doctor Who Magazine.
Although the title republished the Daleks strip from ''TV Century 21'', those strip rights still reside with Express Newspapers.
Some issues also included tele-snaps features, publishing off air images from missing-presumed-wiped Doctor Who TV stories from the 1960s. These dovetailed into those being run in Doctor Who Magazine.
Classic Comics also featured a number of articles that were related to the all the Doctor Who comic strip stories including interviews listings and a detailed listing feature as well as a small mention of current news/events.
Early issues included posters.
