For others by that name, see Joy.

Joy was an American who worked in the White House. Upon emerging from a toilet cubicle, she sighted one of the Silence. She assumed its face to be a Star Trek mask, asking if the person was Ben. When she looked away, she forgot what she had seen. However, she then looked again and repeated her actions, despite the warnings of Amy Pond. The Silence then killed Joy with an electrical discharge from its hand, utterly disintegrating her. A horrified Amy demanded to know why the Silence had killed Joy, but it instead told Amy her name, apparently killing her for no other reason than intimidation. (DW: The Impossible Astronaut)
