Synopsis

The Doctor takes Rose to the London 2012 olympics, only to find terror in an ordinary street.

Plot

Before the opening credits, an old lady senses something, and immediately warns nearby children to run indoors, explaining that "it's not safe". After ignoring her warnings, the children disappear off-screen.

In Fear Her, the TARDIS lands in East London, in 2012. The Doctor and Rose emerge (after having landed the TARDIS at a bad angle, and rematerialising to correct this) and begin talking about the 2012 London Olympics. The Doctor begins reminiscing about other Olympic events and mentions tea parties featuring fairy cakes with edible ball bearings, emphasising that no other species in the universe had ever bothered to make them. Rose then shows the Doctor some posters with details concerning children that were going missing. The Doctor becomes concerned, also noting how cold it is for the time of year.
