"Electro attack" is a title based upon conjecture.

Check the behind the scenes section, the revision history and discussion page for additional comments on this article's title.

A Cyberman attacking its victim via Electro attack. (DW: Rise of the Cybermen)

The Electro attack is a built-in Cyberman weapon, demonstrated by both types, on different occasions.

It was first used by the Mondasian Cybermen, in their attempts to take the Moonbase, and was later used again by the same sort of Cybermen after being awakened from their Tombs, the attack involved firing a discharge of electricity that almost instantly knocked any human, out cold. (DW: The Moonbase) Although stronger humans, sometimes took more than one blast. (DW: Tomb of the Cybermen)

A different version of the Electro attack was the first weapon exhibited by the Cybus Cybermen. It involved an electrical discharge delivered to the victim through the Cyberman's gauntlet. The shock was enough to kill a human instantly. This weapon was usually used (on humans) in the neck or shoulder region to ensure death was instant. The electrical discharge was blue in colour. (DW: Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel, The Next Doctor) The Cybermen turned to ranged lasers mounted on their wrist at the time of their invasion on our world.(DW: Army of Ghosts/Doomsday) Although their wrist blasters had no effect on the Daleks, the Cybermen were able to use their electric attack to destroy a few Daleks by ripping their Dalekanium domes off. (DWBIT: #17)

It seems that The Doctor could survive it. (DW: The Pandorica Opens) This is unsurprising as he had shown a great resitance to electricity before. Although, as the attack came from a dismembered Cyberarm, it could be that it did not have sufficient power to be lethal.

The Cyberslaves, like their masters, the Cybermen of unknown origin ,were able to shoot electricity out of their hands instead of transfering by touch, thus resembling the Mondasian version. (VG: Blood of the Cybermen)
