Teleport Pods were utilised by the Sontarans during the Sontaran invasion of Earth in 2009.
The pods resembled large cubes with a platform and a small activation console inside. The pods machinery was vulnerable to sonic waves but could be easily repaired by a Sontaran baton.
Also used in the campaign were small beacons resembling discs that could be attatached to a surface allowing the Sontarans to teleport it onboard their ship. (DW: The Sontaran Stratagem / The Poison Sky)
After the invasion was repelled, the pods came into the possession of UNIT which led to the creation of Project Indigo. (DW: The Stolen Earth)
