The Big Finish Podcast is the official podcast of Big Finish Productions. Though a marketing tool which naturally contains clips of upcoming releases, it also frequently contains a good deal of documentary material and interviews with key performers and behind-the-scenes staff.
Its principal host is Big Finish showrunner, Nicholas Briggs, and, as of 2011, it often includes David Richardson and Paul Sprague. Guests on the programme have included Rob Shearman, Tom Baker, Sophie Aldred, India Fisher, Colin Baker, Louise Jameson and many others.
The show began with episode 1 on 5 February 2008, but it abandoned numbering scheme later that same year. Initially a highly polished, meticulously edited affair, it has since become a more informal, conversationally-oriented program, in which four episodes are cut at a single lunch break, then edited into four episodes. Since 2010, this production pattern has allowed the podcast to appear more or less weekly.
The programme also runs regular contests for its listeners, in which prizes come from Big Finish's output.
