Bess Carstairs was the mother of Jake and Vienna Carstairs. She was also the wife of Brian Carstairs with whom she co-owned a hotel. She was invited to theChelsea 426 flower show. She and her children went, but her husband could not go. Instead the Doctor, who was a guest at their hotel, went with her.
