There are many kinds of pteranodon, one unknown kind attacked the Doctor (DW: Invasion of the Dinosaurs), another kind, that was definately a Pteranodon came through the Cardiff rift to present day Earth where it became the Torchwood Institutes mascot, they named it Myfanwy (off-universe known as the Torchwood Pteranodon).
