Technology by planet is a category for planets that have more than one sentient lifeform, and where there might be some desire to categorize the technology of the entire planet. For instance Earth technology is not the same thing as Human technology; it is, rather, the combination of Earth-resident humans' technology and Silurian/Sea Devil technology.

In general, preference should be given to the technology by species category rather than this one, as species often don't live on a single planet. However, this category has some utility in two cases:

  • where there's more than one sentient species on a single planet
  • where there's one sentient species, but that species' name is unknown
