Jenny is the daughter of the Doctor, introduced in the episode The Doctor's Daughter.

Jenny got created by The Doctor when he was forced to put his hand in a machine that extracts tissue samples in order to create direct descendants of the owner of the tissue sample. Jenny stepped out of the machine, saying "Hello, Dad.", much to the surprise of The Doctor, Donna Noble, and Martha Jones.

Jenny, the Doctor, Martha, Donna and Klein were, at that point ambushed by the Hath. Martha became separated from the rest of the group by one of the Hath, to the distress of the Doctor. Jenny pushed a button which triggered an explosion, causing the collapse of the tunnel that cut the group off from the Hath and from Martha.

Klein, along with Jenny, took the Doctor and Donna to General Cobb, where he ordered Jenny, the Doctor and Donna to be locked up in a cell. While in this cell, Donna proved to the Doctor that Jenny was indeed his daughter; she listened to Jenny's heart beat. It is revealed in the scene that Jenny is a form of Time Lord, and that she has two hearts.

Jenny helped the Doctor and Donna break out from the cell by kissing Klein who had been given the job of guarding their cell. During the kiss, she took his pistol and ordered him to let them out of the cell. Jenny left Klein tied up on the floor of the cell.

Jenny, the Doctor and Donna then left the cells, but found that they could not get through a guarding lattice work of red laser beams, presumed fatal to the touch. Understanding that the Doctor needed time in order to work out how to get them through safely, Jenny offered to go back and fight the advancing Humans; stating that she would kill if necessary. Her father spoke to her then, and told her that when it came to killing, she always had a choice.

After Jenny bought enough time, the Doctor and Donna managed to get through the beams. Jenny returned, and revealed to the Doctor that she had taken his advice - she had had the chance to kill Cobb, but she had decided not to. This could be seen as their first 'father-daughter' moment.

However, before Jenny could get through to the safety, the beams switched back on, preventing her progress. Here, Jenny showed great acrobatic prowess when she managed to cartwheel and flip through the beams, safely reaching the other side, where Donna showed her amazement yet again.

As the three of them made their way towards the Source, Jenny spoke with the Doctor about the possibility of traveling with him, and he told her that he would never leave her. They found a door way into the temple and met Martha who had made her own way by walking across the planet's surface.

They found the Source which turned out to be an orb of gases, capable of making a barren planet habitable. As the Hath and the Humans broke in, they saw the Source, and came to an understanding of what it was, and all of the blood-shed of the seven-day-war was forgotten.

Angry at the Doctor for preventing the war, General Cobb aimed his gun and shot at him. Jenny here showed her compassion by standing in the way of the bullet. She was shot through one of her hearts, and 'died'.

Later, when the Doctor had left after accepting her death, Jenny's eyes open as Klein puts her to rest. It becomes known to the audience that Jenny is indeed alive when she flies off in the Space Ship that is the Temple, determined to find, and to save other worlds.

There are mixed views in the Doctor Who fandom as to whether Jenny was brought back to life by the Source, or whether her Time Lord heritage was what brought her back.
