Jenny is the daughter of the Doctor, was "born" on the planet Messaline as part a group of humans breeding program to swiftly create soldiers to fight the Hath. She was named by the Doctor's companion Donna Noble from the Doctor's original description of her as a generated anomaly. Like her father, Jenny has two hearts.
Jenny was the artificially created "daughter" of the Doctor, who retained his Time Lord genes.

History
Jenny was born when the Doctor was forced to put his hand in a machine that extracts tissue samples in order to create direct descendants of the owner of the tissue sample. Jenny stepped out of the machine, saying "Hello, Dad", much to the surprise of the Doctor, Donna Noble, and Martha Jones. Jenny, the Doctor, Martha, Donna and Cline were, at that point ambushed by the Hath. Martha became separated from the rest of the group by one of the Hath, to the distress of the Doctor. Jenny pushed a button which triggered an explosion, causing the collapse of the tunnel that cut the group off from the Hath and from Martha.

Cline, along with Jenny, took the Doctor and Donna to General Cobb, where he ordered Jenny, the Doctor and Donna to be locked up in a cell. While in this cell, Donna proved to the Doctor that Jenny was indeed his daughter; she listened to Jenny's heart beat. It is revealed in the scene that Jenny is a form of Time Lord, and that she has two hearts.

===Biography==
A short war waged on the planet Messaline between Humans and Hath. The Humans (and possibly the Hath as well) used promulgators, machines which instantly created mentally programmed young adult offspring from the DNA of a single parent. When the Doctor (with Donna and Martha) arrived on Messaline, he had Jenny made from him against his will from a small skin sample just prior to an ambush by Hath.

Jenny helped the Doctor and Donna break out from the cell by kissing Cline who had been given the job of guarding their cell. During the kiss, she took his pistol and ordered him to let them out of the cell. Jenny left Cline tied up on the floor of the cell.
The then-nameless Jenny pushed a button which triggered an explosion, causing the collapse of the tunnel that cut the group off from the Hath and from Martha. Shortly after, Jenny, was named by the Doctor's companion Donna Noble from the Doctor's original description of her as a 'generated anomaly'.

Jenny, the Doctor and Donna then left the cells, but found that they could not get through a guarding lattice work of red laser beams, presumed fatal to the touch. Understanding that the Doctor needed time in order to work out how to get them through safely, Jenny offered to go back and fight the advancing Humans; stating that she would kill if necessary. Her father spoke to her then, and told her that when it came to killing, she always had a choice.
Jenny's commander, Cobb, had Jenny locked up with the Doctor and Donna. While in this cell, Donna proved to the Doctor that Jenny was indeed his daughter; she listened to Jenny's heartbeat and found that, like the Doctor, she had two hearts. Jenny helped the others by kissing Cline and then taking his pistol. The Doctor found his daughter very capable though inclined towards violence, though convinced her not to kill Cobb when she had the chance.

After Jenny bought enough time, the Doctor and Donna managed to get through the beams. Jenny returned, and revealed to the Doctor that she had taken his advice - she had had the chance to kill Cobb, but she had decided not to. This could be seen as their first 'father-daughter' moment. However, before Jenny could get through to the safety, the beams switched back on, preventing her progress. Here, Jenny showed great acrobatic prowess when she managed to cartwheel and flip through the beams, safely reaching the other side, where Donna showed her amazement yet again.
As the three of them made their way towards the Source, which Cobb and the Hath both sought, Jenny spoke with the Doctor about the possibility of traveling with him, and he told her that he would never leave her. The Doctor told the respective parties to end the war, whereupon General Cobb aimed his gun and shot at him. Jenny here showed her compassion by standing in the way of the bullet. She was shot through one of her hearts, and died, but did not regenerate.

As the three of them made their way towards the Source, Jenny spoke with the Doctor about the possibility of traveling with him, and he told her that he would never leave her. They found a door way into the temple and met Martha who had made her own way by walking across the planet's surface.
While laying in state, however, Jenny returned to life, stole a shuttlecraft and left Messaline, determined to find, and to save other worlds. (DW: The Doctor's Daughter)

They found the Source which turned out to be an orb of gases, capable of making a barren planet habitable. As the Hath and the Humans broke in, they saw the Source, and came to an understanding of what it was, and all of the blood-shed of the seven-day-war was forgotten.
Personality
Jenny showed a lot of the brilliance, lust for life and determination typical of her father. Though programming had made her military-minded and goal-oriented, she soon adopted the Doctor's values and principles, though she could also challenge him. (DW: The Doctor's Daughter

The Hath and the humans arrive and the Doctor tells them was the Source is for. Angry at the Doctor for preventing the war, General Cobb aimed his gun and shot at him. Jenny here showed her compassion by standing in the way of the bullet. She was shot through one of her hearts, and 'died'. As she dies the Doctor talks about all the things he wants them to do, and waits for her to regenerate. When she doesn't the Doctor holds a gun to General Cobb's head but stops himself from shooting him stating that he would never do that.
Other information
Like her father, Jenny has two hearts. She also had reflexes and acrobatic ability far beyond that of almost any Human. After her death, she shortly returned to life, expelling a "breath" of pure energy, though, unlike a Time Lord undergoing regeneration, she did not change physically.

The Hath and the humans of Messaline request that they be allowed to give Jenny a proper ceremony, with the Doctor's consent.
Jenny's presence had drawn the TARDIS to Messaline, paradoxically, before her creation, so that she in effect created herself. (DW: The Doctor's Daughter)

Later, when the Doctor had left after accepting her death, Jenny's eyes open as Cline puts her to rest, she is indeed alive when she flies off in the Space Ship, and ignores Cline's protests, determined to find, and to save other worlds. (DW: The Doctor's Daughter)

*There are mixed views in the Doctor Who fandom as to whether Jenny was brought back to life by the Source, or whether her Time Lord heritage was what brought her back. She does not regenerate in the traditional sense (she doesn't change appearance) and just before she revives she expels a wispy substance from her mouth that resembles both the Source and the Time Vortex remnants expelled by the Tenth Doctor after his regeneration. (DW: The Christmas Invasion). This could be a similar case to the Doctor's regeneration from Seventh to Eighth. After being shot and his heart 'messed with' during surgery, he technically died, only to regenerate some hours later, or as with the Tenth Doctor's regeneration she was within a certain period of time, and like the Doctor regrew his hand she regrew whatever was shot.
