is one-fifth of the driving engine behind the automatic replacement of the Did You Know section of the main page. It looks for a sub-template of this one labelled by a number between 1 and 100. It then transcludes the template associated with that number. Thus, a different nugget of information is placed on the main page in the DYK section on each page load. This ensures that no two users of the site have the same experience, and a wider range of articles will be visited from the front page.

This template is fully locked, because it is merely the conduit through which the actual featured article text passes. To change the quote of the week, you must change one of the following sub templates.

These subpages should be about objects, technology, planets, and, well, things.

If the number is red, then that page has not been created. This feature won't work very well until all pages are created.

Example text

The following is the content of DYK/objects/doc/1:

... that without the last-minute inspiration of un-credited vision mixer Shirley Coward, the first regeneration scene would have simply involved William Hartnell pulling a cloak over his face and Patrick Troughton lowering it? (REF: The Second Doctor Handbook)

Note the following things:

 • The text begins with periods of ellipses not an asterisk. will add the asterisk, thereby converting the factoids into a list.
 • The fact should be put into the appropriate category; in this case, category:DYK/objects templates.
 • The subject of the factoid, in this case Shirley Coward, should be bolded.
 • The fact should be as wikified as possible. We want to expose readers to many opportunities to click through to some other spot of the wiki.
 • Redlinks in a DYK should be avoided.
