Constable Smitty was a policeman who gained a radiation infection after helping Doctor Tulp to gather uranium from the docks. His infection were mainly across his face, which Henry Gordon Jago found grotesque.
He helped Jago find the similarity engine, which was a machine that projected the mind into another body. (JAL: The Similarity Engine)
