The Final Game (unproduced TV story)

The Final Game was an unproduced serial intended to end Season 11. It would have revealed that the Doctor and the Master were actually brothers, explaining why the Master never sought to actually kill the Doctor. Ihe story would have ended with the Master sacrificing his life for the Third Doctor, followed by his regeneration. However, the episode was never produced due to the death of Roger Delgado, so Planet of the Spiders replaced this story as the final episode for Jon Pertwee (Third Doctor).

- Several elements from this episode have been recycled throughout the years:
- The part where the Master is responsible for the Doctor's death/regeneration is shown in Logopolis when the Tremas Master was responsible for the Fourth Doctor's regeneration into the Fifth Doctor.
- The part where the Master being the Doctor's evil side is referenced in Planet of Fire in dialogue between the Master and the Fifth Doctor.
- The part where the two Time Lords are thought to be brothers occurred in The Sound of Drums when Martha Jones thought the Tenth Doctor and the Saxon Master were brothers.
- The part where they're thought to be two aspects of the same Time Lord would be reused in The End of Time with the Tenth Doctor and the Master wondering what they'd be like without each other and the Master sacrificing himself to save the Tenth Doctor from Rassilon.
