"Proper" wiki Merges
As an aside, things like Border Princess and Border Princes should be merged properly in order to merge the histories into one place. Have you ever done this before? If not, the process is as follows:
- manually copy the information from the destination to the source article.
- delete the destination article
- move the source article to the destination (this creates the redirect too)
- undelete all deleted revisions of the page
And voila... you're done. You have all of the history from every instance of the article in one location. :) -- Sulfur 15:58, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Future episodes template?
Do you know if there is a Tardis Wikia version of Wikipedia's "future film/TV episode" template? If not, I think there should be one, since speculation is starting to build regarding the specials, Torchwood and SJA. I've seen this Wikia cited as a source of information on several forums, which is a good thing, but given the fact that information can change regarding an episode (I'm still seeing rumors of the Doctor regenerating in the 2008 Christmas special, for example, and now there's a rumor 2 specials will be made in America) I think a tag saying "this article is about a future episode and the information here may include speculation and unconfirmed reports" or something like that would be a good addition. We could have some fun with giving it Who-style wording, and maybe use a picture of the Doctor meeting himself in Day of the Daleks to illustrate! Thoughts? 23skidoo 12:27, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Whatever the problem was, it seems to have fixed itself (or been fixed) and I'm logged back in! Hopefully that's that. Thanks for your efforts and ideas! 23skidoo 00:57, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Linking to different series
Now that I'm back up, perhaps you could take a look at Talk:Journey's End and weigh in on the reverting of some of my edits to the infobox. I feel that crossover episodes should (I'll actually go further and say must) link to whatever the preceding and following stories were for the particular spinoffs. For example, TW: Exit Wounds, SJA: The Lost Boy and DW: Turn Left should be in the "preceding story" box for The Stolen Earth (or possibly TW: Lost Souls instead of Exit Wounds since it was a BBC Radio production and holds more canon weight than, say, a novel does). Journey's End should be followed by links to the 2008 Christmas Special as well as Music of the Spheres, plus the season 3 episodes for SJA and TW. The comment on the talk page suggests we should keep the shows separate, but that seems to defeat the purpose of a single-universe wiki like this. We might as well create separate Torchwood and SJA wikis if that's the case ... 23skidoo 01:18, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
