Julius Silverstein
Julius Silverstein was a wealthy Jewish businessman and collector of rare artefacts with his own private museum. He purchased a deactivated robot Yeti from Professor Edward Travers, who had acquired it in Tibet in 1935. Thirty years later, Travers, who had succeeded in reactivating a Yeti control sphere which later vanished, went to Silverstein and requested that he return the Yeti, warning him of the danger. Silverstein refused to listen, and, after Travers left, was killed by the reactivated Yeti soon afterwards. (TV: The Web of Fear)
Behind the Scenes
Silverstein, who had a stereotypically Jewish name, was renamed Emil Julius in Terrance Dicks' novelisation Doctor Who and the Web of Fear so as to not promote stereotypes concerning the Jewish people.
