Behind the scenes

While real-life BBC News personnel, sets and graphics have been used on the various Doctor Who franchise series, AMNN is a fictional creation, analogous to CNN. In real life, CNN generally does not allow the use of its name, logo, or personnel in fictional contexts.

To date the exact meaning of the acronym AMNN has not been spelled out, though presumably the first word is American and the last two News Network. One possibility is that, similar to the current expansion of UNIT to UNified Intelligence Taskforce, the acronym may mean AMerican News Network.
