Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Assault Dalek

As the name 'Assault Dalek' hasn't been used anywhere in Doctor Who media (other than the Character Options figures), I don't think it qualifies as canon. The blow torch attachment is covered in Manipulator arm.

Additionally, Merchandise doesn't count as appearances, (other wise we'd have a hell of a time with the various Dapol figures and everything that came out of the Dalekmania in the 1960s).

Which brings me to accuracy of the merchandise, back in Dapol days they released a green K9 (because the photo the BBC gave them had K9 photographed on green grass, making him look green). This doesn't make K9 green or canon. (sorry random facts)

If there is ever an Assault Dalek article, it needs to be backed up by something more than the merchandise. (Also remember to sign your comments on talk or forum pages, it's the button third from the right on the row of buttons above the text box, it looks like part of a signature, or you can add it via four tildes (~), the symbol next to the 1 on a keyboard whilst holding shift: ~~~~). --Tangerineduel 12:31, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

The Doctor Who Wiki RARDIS Index File does consider a lot of things that haven't appeared on TV as canon.

On this wiki there is generally just one canon, the idea of 'expanded universe' or secondary canon was explored early in this wiki's inception (when inspiration was sought from other wikias), but has since been discontinued owning to the complex nature of the Doctor Who universe.

As for Merchandise categories see Category:Merchandise.
There is some what of a difference between fandom and a wikia, can you cite a similar example within the wikias that also uses merchandise as a valid resource?
As I said before, if there is a primary resource that can back up the name of the Assault Dalek then it may qualify for an article of its own, or a sentence or two within the Dalek variants article. --Tangerineduel 13:05, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
