Alice Carter
Alice Carter (née Melissa Moretti; previously Sangster) is the daughter of Jack Harkness and Lucia Moretti, a former Italian Torchwood Three operative. She is also Gray's niece. She lives with her son, Jack's grandson, Steven – who, like every child in the world, is briefly taken over by the 456. She appears in part one when Jack visits her and wants to do some tests on Steven. Then, Alice tells her father to leave, and he does to visit Dr Rupesh. Alice's son, Steven, thinks Jack is his uncle. In 1977, Alice was put into cover by her mother, Lucia, who died in 2006 of natural causes. In hiding, Alice's parents were recorded as James and Mary Sangster, however the government knew they did not exist. In Day Three, Johnson and her men take Alice and Steven into custody to use against Jack.
In Day Five, Alice and Steven are released from prison, but Jack needs a child to reverse the signal that killed Clem MacDonald to use against the 456. He uses Steven against Alice's wishes, which results in the boy's death.
