Bar scene

To be clear on the scene we see with Bill and Heather in the bar...does that actually happen? It comes up several times in the episode, but I don't know if that's just Bill's fantasy, or some potential future, or if that's actually a flashback. Something which happens between scenes in this episode? I'm a bit unclear on this point. Maybe someone can clear it up.

Bill recalls her memories at the end after the Doctor decides not to wipe them and the bar scene is included. I think it is an event that actually happened. Scoobydooman90001 22:53 April 18, 2017 (UTC)
Indeed, the motif of "all time is happening at once" wouldn't work if it occurred in a fantasy. OS25 (Talk) 22:55, April 18, 2017 (UTC)
But the bar scene may have been included at the end because it is part of what she experienced in those few seconds holding hands with Heather. On my first watch, I saw it as absolutely possible that "all time happening at once" could indicate that this was some potential future. Anyway, it seems that the overwhelming response, from two people anyway, is that this is indeed something which happens. I can accept that. When does this happen, in Bill and Heather's timeline? Before she approached her on the bench, that first time? In between the various times they meet around there? Maybe it'll be clearer on a rewatch.

Update: during a casual rewatch two days ago, I realised that the bar scene takes place before she sees Heather again on the bench, somewhere in between the Doctor's lectures. Bill sees Heather on the bench, remembers her from the bar, and approaches her.
