Protocol druids were a caste of British priest-engineers from Roma DII who specialised in learning languages. Antonius was one. (PROSE: Warlords of Utopia)

The protocol druids are an obvious nod to the protocol droids of the Star Wars continuity, most notably including C-3PO.
