Doctor Who universe

The Doctor Who Universe or Whoniverse is a term used by fans to describe the fictional universe in which the stories and events portrayed in the television series Doctor Who and other stories set in other media set, to distinguish them from events in the real world. As official television productions based on Doctor Who, K-9 & Company, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures also take place in the Doctor Who Universe.

However, not all fans regard media in formats other than television as canonical. A related term, "Expanded Universe," borrowed from Star Wars fandom, describes persons, events, and stories depicted in the various spin-off materials, as their canonicity is a matter of debate, as well as personal taste and opinion.
