The Fendahl is a gestalt organism native to the Fifth Planet composed of two parts, the Fendhal Core and the Fendahleen.

Biology

The Fendahl is a large, worm-like creature with an armoured body, pink tentacles around its head and two large fins. Fendahls have the ability to drain all the spectrum of energy from their prey, effectively sucking out their soul. Salt is dangerous to Fendahls since it affects its conductivity and prevents control of osmotic pressures.

Fendahls come in group minds, with a core mind and 12 Fendahleens (13 in total). The Core can create these Fendahleens from living Humans, but if the Core is destroyed the Fendahl is killed. All of the parts of the Fendahl can telekinetically control people, but the Core has many more psychic powers such as mind control and astral projection. (DW: Image of the Fendahl)

History

Roughly 12 million years ago, the Fendahls evolved on the Fifth Planet. They started to kill all life on the planet, including each other. When the Time Lords learnt of the danger that the Fendahl posed, they destroyed the planet (creating the asteroid belt) and trapped it in a time loop.

Despite this, one of the Fendahls survived and was able to astrally project itself to Earth (ravaging Mars on the way). It was able to possess a Human skull in Kenya with a pentagram. The Fendahl then genetically shaped the Humans to make them more suitable for its purposes. In the mean time, the Fendahls passed into legend for the Time Lords and caused many of the myths for the Humans. (DW: Image of the Fendahl)
