The Cairo 500 was held in Cairo in January 1936. It was run by racing driver Emil Hartung, thanks in part to modifications the Seventh Doctor made to his car. The two men and Melanie Bush met in the Grand Imperial Hotel that night when the sight of an owl sparked a conversation about sonar and radar properties in nature, the scientific research of which was beyond Hartung's time. However, his intellect and imagination helped him to connect some dots in his own knowledge, consequences the Doctor and Mel remained unaware of. Mel grew close to Hartung until she learned he was a member of the Nazi Party. The Cario 500 turned out to be Hartung's last major public appearance. He later returned to Germany and pledged himself to the Third Reich. (PROSE: Just War)
