Brian was the live-in boyfriend of Dr. Grace Holloway in at least the year 1999. Frustrated with her frequent disappearances in service to Walker General Hospital, he moved out of their shared house on or about New Year's Eve, 1999. He had apparently taken some of her personal furniture as he moved out, according to Grace. He had, however, left behind a pair of shoes, which she gave to the barefooted Doctor, soon after his regeneration. Brian and the Doctor were likely the same shoe size, as the Doctor noted that Brian's shoes "fit perfectly". (DW: Doctor Who)
