The Bekaran deep-tissue scanner was a small, rectangular device with a series of lens on a side (TWN: Slow Decay) and a screen the size of a pocket calculator (TWN: Another Life). The Bekaran scanner allowed the user to see internal organs without surgery, with much greater accuracy and definition than an X-ray machine or an MRI scanner. (TWN: Another Life) It was hooked up to Torchwood Three's wireless network. (TWN: Slow Decay)

Torchwood Three had several Bekaran scanners, one of which was bought by Toshiko Sato while search for shoes on eBay. Owen Harper used it in his experiments and brought it to Megan Tegg to introduce her to Torchwood. (TWN: Another Life) Owen later used it to remotely examine Marianne Till. (TWN: Slow Decay) When investigating if the zombies found in Cardiff were actually undead humans, Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones used Owen's Bekaran scanner to examine the one they captured. (TWN: Bay of the Dead) Gwen Cooper used it to discover that Leon Foiret's neutrons were disappearing. (BBCR: Lost Souls)
