Dr Paterson was a human scientist. He was conducting time travel experiments when he met the Eighth Doctor. The experiments caused a breach allowing the clock people to invade. Paterson was infected, but committed suicide to prevent himself from being completely converted. (PROSE: Anachrophobia)
