The mysterious demat effect was the name given to the phenomenon that involved the "arms" (actually eyestalks and manipulator arms) of Dalek toys made in the 1960s dematerialising out of existence in 1970. At a Doctor Who 30 Years Convention, a group of fans observed the aftermath of the effect, finding that the toys they had brought to the event had all lost their arms. (NOTVALID: Doctor Who? 205)
