Behind the scenes
- A 1996 Vodafone campaign featured MacLachlan as an unnamed Dale Cooper-esque agent investigating supernatural occurrences throughout Europe. One advertisement co-starred Jon Pertwee in a brief non-speaking appearance as the Third Doctor, one of his final performances.
- In the 1997 BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures novel Alien Bodies, during Kortez's out-of-body experience, he meets a "particularly angelic" schoolgirl who comments, "But sometimes my arms bend back." This references a famous line of dialogue by the schoolgirl Laura Palmer in Twin Peaks. In the context of Alien Bodies, the schoolgirl was meant to represent Marie, so her face was depicted as "unfolding"; twenty years later, Laura Palmer's face was depicted similarly in Twin Peaks: The Return.
- David Warner appeared in season 2 of Twin Peaks.
