Minecraft was a sandbox video game. It was developed and published by Mojang Studios for the PC. The Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions were developed by 4J Studios and published by Microsoft, and the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions were developed by 4J and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

The game was publicly released on PC in 2011, Xbox 360 in 2012, PlayStation 3 in 2013, and Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita in 2014. Mojang was purchased by Microsoft in 2014.

On 3 October 2014, a selection of Doctor Who "skins" were released for the game on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The pack cost $2.99/€2.85/£1.99.[1] A second volume followed on 18 December. The second pack cost $2.99/€2.99/£2.39.[2] These skins were later released on the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game on 23 September 2015.[3]
