Talk:Hypnosis
What's this article meant to include?
This article seems a bit of a dog's breakfast. "Mind control" redirects here, but it certainly doesn't cover everything that could be described as "mind control"(the Cybermen being the glaring example), but includes a lot of things most people wouldn't call "hypnosis" - for instance, the poisonous bite of Alzarian spiders, Robomen (but apparently not Cybermen) and the Shadow's neck implants. Also a few things that don't really fit the name "mind control" The article treats them as synonymous but obvoiusly they just aren't, not in the real world anyway and I can't see why the words should be defined differently for Doctor Who. Possible to do any better than this, maybe split the article? Thoughts? The Master's hit rate
This bit, "[The Master's] success rate at hypnosis was poor, owing to his potential victims' stronger wills", is understandably marked "disputed". The impression I had was that the Master was supposed to be quite good, and was unlucky on screen just for the same reason all Doctor Who villains are: plot. Was thinking of changing it to just "often failed if...", but I haven't actually seen any of the episodes where the Master tries to hypnotiise anyone (unless you count "World Enough and Time"); what do those of you who have think? Hypnosis v. hypnotism
I'm tempted to change the title to "Hypnotism", just because it sounds so much more B-movie :-) Wizardblizzard1 ☎ 15:41, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
Mind control
I think this article should be split. It treats hypnosis and mind control as the same thing when really there are differences. The Doctor using hypnosis on Sarah Jane or the Master using hypnosis is different from the Sycorax using blood control or the Cyberman Earpods using mind control. Or the use of brain control through technology. The Doctor even says they are different things in The Christmas Invasion and The End of Time. I suggest moving all stuff regarding the use on mind control to a separate mind control page.– The preceding unsigned comment was added by 185.69.144.75 (talk).
