Gaznak was a peaceful female Sontaran on Salvation Nine. She was the current leader of the tribe during the month the Ninth Doctor visited, as part of the rota. She showed him the rituals around their feeding rituals^{[statement unclear]}, calling it "the Earthing process". After the Doctor learnt about the history of the moon, she showed him their birthing grounds. She went with the Doctor to get^{[statement unclear]} a true Sontaran.
