The "Mystery of the Missing Girls" was Henry Gordon Jago's title for the events surrounding Magnus Greel's search for the time cabinet. (TV: The Talons of Weng-Chiang [+]Loading...["The Talons of Weng-Chiang (TV story)"])

Chronology

At the time when the murders occurred, 1873 was considered by George Litefoot to be "quite some time" in the past. It also occurred at a point after Jack the Ripper's murders. During the events of the murders, Litefoot once read an issue of Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine which was cover dated February 1892.
