Bat Masterson was the Sheriff of Tombstone, Arizona. He tried vainly to persuade Wyatt Earp not to take part in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral. (DW: The Gunfighters)

Historically, Bat Masterson had already left Tombstone before the gunfight.
