Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Rich Text Editor

May I suggest turning off the editor? Every edit you make adds a multitude of blank lines to the articles you edit. To turn it off, I would strongly recommend going to the "more" option in the upper right, choosing preferences, scroll down to "editing preferences", and turn off the "rich text editing". It does a lot of really poor formatting things to articles and makes a multitude of changes that should not be made. -- sulfur 19:52, January 2, 2010 (UTC)

Edit - Doomsday

Hi

Did you leave the last comment regarding the two superclamps? I've responded if you did and were interested in why.

You New Page

I like the idea that you have made a new page for Discontinuty, the only thing is: I created one in the past and got it deleted, as I felt the page would have gone massive. I would recommend that you highlight that the page is for just for Highlighting the mistake and use the discussion page on that for the resolution and ideas why. You would also need to rename it to Highlight its Doctor Who Television Discontinuity, and then create a pages for Torchwood Television Discontinuty, Sarah Jane Adventures Television Discontinuity and one for Audio (these can all go on one page), the same with Prose and comic strips Hope this helps!!!! But please also remember to cast your vote in the forum page and beware the page maybe deleted by an Admin Mini-mitch 20:45, March 26, 2010 (UTC)

Please don't take my recent tagging of the discon article as a personal attack on you. I dislike putting a delete tag on an article that someone has made clear they're editing by using the inuse tag. As the creator of the inuse template on this wiki, I generally stay well away from any page that employs that tag.
However, as I made clear on the talk page of your article, this idea had already been floated and deleted by admins (as Mini-mitch confirms, above). The entire underlying concept of the article is flawed, and no amount of work will improve it. I'm honestly just trying to save you wasting your time. As you make clear in your last revision, you intend for it to be a "semi-discussion page". Well, that sort of thing doesn't belong at all within the main article space. That's the explicit point of removing the discon sections from articles, in the first place. Why would we go through all the work of removing all this stuff from over 200 pages just to have it recreated elsewhere in the main article space? The article is a fine idea for a thread at Forum:The Howling, but it has no business in the main, encyclopedic area of the wiki. Again, I mean you no personal offense, but am merely trying to ensure that things go in the appropriate places. Please also see Forum:Discontinuity revisited. CzechOut | 21:48, March 26, 2010 (UTC)

Tenth Planet

I am undoing you edits and they conflict with the Manual of Style - please read this, which states that a reliable source must be used when added answers to these questions. Mini-mitch 23:12, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

Warning

As the above editors have noted there has been ample discussion of this, there is even the beginning of a discontinuity-like page system at the Howling see Forum:Doctor Who television discontinuity and plot holes, it currently has the first two seasons linked away from the page as a proof of concept.

Further undoing of edits related to discontinuity on pages edited over to the 'Production errors' format will be viewed as vandalism and you will be blocked from editing for a period upwards of 2 weeks. --Tangerineduel 03:40, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

capitalize names

Please remember to capitalize the names of people, such as Doctor, and the names of species', such as Time Lords. The Thirteenth Doctor 12:45, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

Delete tag

Do not remove a delete tag without a proper reason. Removing delete tags that give a reason for the page to be deleted without giving a reason can be considered vandalism. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked. The Thirteenth Doctor 13:34, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

Firstly, the page is much more like a category than an article. Secondly, a similar category was recently deleted. Finally, it is debatable what "godlike" means. Personally, I'd consider an ability to regenerate and have psychic abilities god like, which would make Time Lords god like, where as others would not. God like is a term which depends on your view. To small insects, we may seem godlike, but to ourselves we are not. The Thirteenth Doctor 13:43, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

You can continue to edit it, but the delete tag stays on it. When an admin sees the delete tag, they will judge the page to see whether it should stay or be deleted. In its current state, it will be deleted for the reasons above (which I will be putting on the article's talk page), unless you can give an argument on the talk page to convince an admin to keep it there. The Thirteenth Doctor 13:51, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

I cannot think of any way it could be kept. If you strongly wish to keep it, you could always place it into your username space, edit it to your satisfaction then see if it is acceptable for the mainspace. I would also advise that you start a forum in the panopticon to see if any other users can think of a way to work the page. Those are probably your best options. If you wish it to be moved into your username space, let me know and I'll do it before the page gets deleted. The Thirteenth Doctor 17:51, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

Your user name space is where you make pages under your user name. So for that page, it would be moved to User:General MGD 109/Powerful and godlike beings and races. That way it is not in the mainspace. --The Thirteenth Doctor 18:25, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

Powerful Gods

You did not create a forum page in the Panopticon as I suggested. If you don't, no one will know that the page exists. Create a page there and explain why you want the page to become a main page. Then people will discuss the pros and cons of it. The Thirteenth Doctor 11:43, August 30, 2010 (UTC)
