Template:Forum archives header The master and the Joker
I was just wondering, on the harold saxon page should we mention that he was inspired by the joker from batman. I know that RTD has never mentioned that in an interview but in my opinion it is pretty obvious. RTD is a big comic book fan from wthat i can recall he named captain jack after some relatively obscure marvel character [when i say obscure I mean to the public] also the valiant as has been pointed out on this wiki looks very like that massice ship that shield uses. I can't believe I cant remember what it is called, but it did look like the valiant, there was even a scene in a spiderman cartoon where the shield spaceship got blown up that reminded me of the daleks blowing up the valiant. Also the reality bomb arc is very similar to an arc from that same spiderman cartoon where one of spidermans enemies plans to use a weapon that will blow up every single universe, and like journey's end only one person can stop it and like journey's end there are people who come from the future I.E who've seen it it all the universe's coming down and tell him what he has to do similar to rose. The two parter is called Spider wars if you want to watch it on youtube and see what i'm talking about. But back to my original point I do think the master is like the joker. John simm master is crazy really, really crazy, i know all the masters have been a bit mental, but the john simm version is really really crazy. He does real joker stuff that bit in sound of drums where he gases the cabinet and makes all the jokes about doing it was just like what the joker would do. Plus again there is alot of similarities in storylines with the master and the joker, for instance the story emperor joker the joker takes over the earth and keeps batman prisoner and tortures and humiliates him, in the end a friend of batmans superman stops him and in the end they point out how the joker is nothing to batman, and after the joker is beat everything he did on the earth is wiped out and erased. Furthermore there's also this batman cartoon called "the batman" where the joker steals a device that can project his mind onto everything and he turns everyone into copies of himself, or he makes there be millions of him i can't remember but it is like the master you see that there are all these different jokers all the women babies children and they are all laughing at batman. Also the john simm was like the joker in that you knew why he was crazy, there wasn't really a full reason why the other masters wanted to takes over the universe, I mean there was thwwhole he wanted more life thing that was cool but other than that it wasn't like the john simm one, here we actually saw that something horrible happened to him like the way something horrible happened to the joker and thats what made him into a monster. Let me know what you think do you guys think RTD based the new master off of the joker, I would love to think that he did because the master and the joker are two of my favourite villains but let me know if we should include anything about that on harold saxons page. - If you can find any citable source that makes the same connections, it would be worth adding to the Behind the Scenes section. But otherwise, it's all original research and speculation. The best thing to do would be to track down Russell T. Davies and ask him about it and get the interview published somewhere. Then, who cares about citing, you'd actually know the answer. --Falcotron 11:26, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
- One more thing; Watch the South Park episode Simpsons Already Did It. There are only so many things a megalomaniacal, homicidal, laughing arch-enemy can do, and by now the Joker has to have pretty much done them all.... --Falcotron 11:27, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
