Scootori Manista was a 20-year-old trainee maintenance officer posted on Sanctuary Base 6.

Biography

Scooti was in the control room when the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler when they first arrived at the base. After the quake, she explained to Rose that there was only vaccuum beyond the base, after Rose asked if the noise she heard was a huuricane. Later on, during the night shift, she headed out of the base to repair a broken piece of equiptment.

Scooti went to Toby Zed's room to give him his expenditure, leaving the file on his desk as he was not there. She left the paperwork on his desk, when she suddenly heard the announcing of the airlock opening and closing. She pondered this for a few moments before realizing something was wrong, and she ran out to investigate.

As soon as she arrived in the airlock section, she asked if it had opened the airlock, which it confirmed and that someone had gone out onto the surface. When she asked who went out, it said it didn't know and that no spacesuits had been taken. Scooti surmised that this was impossible, and tried to call Zach, only to get static. She then turned to the computer and asked what was wrong and when it said nothing, she yelled at it to tell her who went outside. However the computer said "He is awake." Surprised, Scooti asked what it said. It then repeated itself. When she asked what that meant, it replied, "He who bathes in the black sun". Scooti backed away in fear and noticed that a blast shield was opening down the hall.

Scooti went over to see who was out there. The young woman was shocked when she saw Toby, in the thrall of the Beast, surviving outside without a spacesuit. When he turned around and saw her he grinned. She muttered in disbelief how this was impossible. He cut her off, and beckoned her to join him. Scooti, helpless to refuse, raised her hand. This continued for a moment, her eyes getting softer as time went on. However, she managed to regain control and, with tears in her eyes, pleaded with him to stop and told him that this was impossible. Toby became angered with her after she said this. His grin was replaced with a glare, and then he clenched his fist. A white cloud appeared on the window and sounds of glass breaking filled the corridor. A frightened Scooti tried to find the source. Soon a crack appeared and she gasped in terror. She ran down the corridor and despirately tried to open the door. The door refused to open, and she screamed despirately, her terror growing more and more as the glass continued to crack. However, her efforts were in vain, and Toby shattered the base's protective glass. Air rushed out the base and Scooti was sucked screaming into the vacuum of space, where she died.

After the hull breach was contained, the surviving crew attempted to find her. However, the Doctor noticed her floating out of space. Soon after, her body was pulled towards the black hole. (DW: The Impossible Planet)
