Captain Henry Avery was a naval officer who eventually became a pirate seeking to increase his wealth. Three years following his departure from home, his ship The Fancy encountered the Siren who began taking the crew away. The Eleventh Doctor eventually revealed that the Siren was in fact a doctor rathar than a demon, and Avery eventually let himself be taken to her hospital in order to care for his son and crew.
