So it's the first/last River story and this season is very River heavy. Now I really want to rewatch it to see if there is any areas that the Silence could have been worked in. Maybe Moffat planned things this far in advance or maybe he had the idea later, but with the title and the River/Silence prominence this season it could serve as a way to bring the River backstory full circle and provide some explanation as well.

I wouldn't think too much on it honestly. The name of the episode was probably ch0sen because it deals with a gigantic library completely devoid of people. While he probably had plans to make River Song a recurring character in the future, I don't think the actual species of the Silence were involved in that particular episode. Yeah, silence most likely refers to the fact that that's what you hear in a library. You're supposed to keep silent. --The Thirteenth Doctor 14:02, May 12, 2011 (UTC)
Also, the Moff said he didn't really work out what The Silence were going to be until after series 5--the idea of "Silence Will Fall" came way before them, but they're obviously related ideas. So it's always possible that way back in the Library, the Moff subconsciously already had in his head that he wanted to write a story about something called "The Silence", and that's why it ended up in the title. Or maybe going back and looking at that episode, the title inspired him to write the later ones. But either way, I wouldn't expect too many clues in the episode. --99.33.25.110 13:22, May 15, 2011 (UTC)
