Rita-Anne Smith was the grandmother of Mickey Smith. Mickey's father, a keycutter, left him at an early age, so he ended up living with her.
She died from a broken neck because Mickey forgot to fix the carpet on the stairs and she tripped up. According to Rose Tyler, Rita used to slap Mickey and was such a great woman. (DW: Rise of the Cybermen)
