A Chinaman could be mean, literally, a "man from China'. (DW: The Talons of Weng-Chiang) However, it had an entirely different meaning in the sport of cricket. In that context it was, as the Fifth Doctor once explained to Turlough, a "off break ball bowled by a left-hand at a right-handed batsman". (BFA: Phantasmagoria)
