It's not as if it's any different from e.g. the Star Trek crossover. If we consider Jean-Luc Picard to be valid despite from obviously originating from an invalid source based on his appearance in Assimilation2 then I see no reason not to consider Cyrian valid based on his appearance in Rescue despite him first appearing in an invalid source.
