Eric Stahlman
Professor Stahlman was the founder and head scientist of the Inferno Project. He was obsessed with completing the project quickly and fought anyone who might delay it, including Sir Keith Gold, Greg Sutton and the Third Doctor. He was infected with Stahlman's ooze and mutated into a Primord. He was killed when the Doctor and Sutton sprayed him with a fire extinguisher. (TV: Inferno)
Stahlman's counterpart in the parallel universe was referred to as "Director" and appeared to spell his surname with two 'n's, as at one point he wore a nameplate reading STAHLMANN. Unlike his bearded counterpart on the regular Earth timeline, Director Stahlmann was clean-shaven and wore dark-tinted spectacles.
Shortly before meeting him, the Doctor described him as as "some damned fool [who] is trying to drill to the centre of the Earth" while Liz Shaw's mother Dame Emily Shaw described him as an "old goat." (AUDIO: The Last Post)
- In the novelisation, Stahlman's first name is Eric, but this was never used on-screen.
