Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
- a list of people whose job it is to help you
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. -- CzechOut (Talk) 13:14, 2013 January 26
Welcome
Hi there :) Congratulations on your promotion. As you probably know, I'm your sort of "backup bureaucrat" at he.doctorwho, so I'm glad to see that the admin staff is growing there. I've noticed you've been putting in some inter-language links here, so thanks :)
You'll probably want to be aware of Board:United Nations Intelligence Taskforce, a forum on this wiki which is specifically dedicated to trying to help non-English Doctor Who wikis get more editors. A he.doctorwho thread already exists there so you may want to read it, if you haven't already. But you are not bound to use that thread; you can start as many threads as you want, so long as they all have to do with building up the ties between this wiki and he.doctorwho.
Now, you asked for help with randomisation. What kind of randomisation are you trying to do?

Well, I'm trying to build randomisation like the one on the main page, for example, one that chooses from "The Sarah Jane Adventures" episodes or characters. ZivKarni3 ☎ 10:41, April 6, 2013 (UTC)
- Well randomisation is handled in two ways on this wiki. But since you're most interested in the television one, take a look at Doctor Who Wiki/Television. It's al right there. well, almost all right there. You'd need to create something like {{random}} and any other templates that are dependent on it, which you can fine by examining the code of {{random}}. Then you just create a #switch statement like the one you see at Doctor Who Wiki/Television. The mathematical #expression needs to be ( {{random|number of options - 1}} + 1 ) because {{random}} can return 0. So currently our list of DW episodes sits at 258. (It needs to be updated a bit, but let's go with that number.) {{random|258}} would return everything from 0 to 258. But we don't have a 0, so we need to add 1 to the result so that the minimum return is 1. But if we do that then we could get 259, which we also don't have. So we set the expression to be ( {{random|257}} + 1 ). Hope that helps!

Coupla points
Hey, did you figure out what you wanted randomised?
Also, please note some things about our wiki that may be different from he.doctorwho. Images must have common English names. Please don't use a string of indecipherable numbers. Also, and this is hugely important, in-universe articles must be in past tense. See T:GTI, T:ICC, T:PERSPECTIVE for more.

- Oh, I see, you replied here. Yeah, please try to reply on your correspondent's talk page. So if you ask me a question, I answer on your page. Then you reply on my page. That way, I'll get a message alert when you reply and I'll be able to respond quickly to you.
