Elesium ore was a mineral, used as a component in the fuel that blasts a ship into hyperspace. It was discovered that the more elesium ore in the fuel, the more efficient is your flying, this dropped the risk ratio by 6-7%, and therefore about 40 million fewer human pioneers get splattered every week.
